The China-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CICC) and the Research Center on Contemporary China, is pleased to invite you to the presentation of The China School: China’s Hi-Tech Rise – Strategies, Players and Perspectives, which will take place on Tuesday, June 10th, 2025, offline at the CICC Office in Shanghai and online via Zoom.
This presentation will provide a first look at The China School, a high-level educational program jointly developed by the Research Center on Contemporary China and the Graduate School of Management of Politecnico di Milano, in partnership with the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce. The program will run from July 14 to 28, 2025, with sessions in Milan, Beijing, and Shanghai.
The event will also feature a keynote speech by Professor Jing Men, Director of the Centre for European Studies at East China Normal University, who will offer insights into China-Europe relations in the Trump era, providing valuable context for the program’s focus on international cooperation and global dynamics.

About the speakers
Michelangelo Cocco, Director and Co-founder of Research Center on Contemporary China
Michelangelo COCCO, director of Research Center on Contemporary China (Reggio Emilia, Italy). He has been living in China for six years and worked as Beijing correspondent for the Italian national daily "Il Manifesto."
Jing Men, Director of the Centre for European Studies at East China Normal University
Prof. Jing MEN obtained her Ph.D. in Political Science from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2004. She worked at the College of Europe as the Baillet Latour Chair of European Union-China Relations and the Director of the EU-China Research Centre from 2008 to 2020. During her tenure, she was the first and only professor of Chinese background at the College. She authored and edited six books in English, three special issues in academic journals, and three books in Chinese. Her edited book (with two colleagues from the College of Europe) The Evolving Relationship between China, the EU, and the USA: A New Global Order, published by Routledge in 2020, received the 2021 Choice Outstanding Award. Prof. Dr. Jing Men returned to China during the Covid-19 pandemic. She now holds the position of Director of the Centre for European Studies at East China Normal University. Most recently, her application was granted by the European Commission DG EAC, and she has been awarded the title of Jean Monnet Chair.
About The China School
The Research Center on Contemporary China, together with the Graduate School of Management of Polytechnic University of Milan launches The China School which will be held from 14 to 28 July 2025 in Milan, Beijing and Shanghai, and will focus on “China’s Hi-Tech Rise: Strategies, Players and Perspectives”. The China School has the patronage of the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce. Aimed at professionals, university students, company managers, The China School is a major national initiative in the field of higher education.
The China School will kick off with 15 hours of lectures on China’s technological rise and its impact on China’s and global economy at PoliHub of Milan Polytechnic, and delivered by well renowned academics and experts from prestigious universities and think tanks.
The second part of The China School will be delivered in China, where participants will deepen their knowledge of China’s hi-tech rise by visiting Chinese and international corporations that will complete the School program. Visits to major historical and cultural sites, as well as to symbolic venues in Chinese history of China-West interaction, both in Beijing and Shanghai, are also planned.
The level of the company visits, lectures and guided tours in China make The China School a unique platform for professional, researchers and students to discuss how indigenous technological development is reshaping China’s economy.
